Taiharuru estuary lies on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island, around 25 minutes east of the city of Whangarei. It's a peaceful rural area, renowned for tranquil estuaries, surf beaches, and good fishing. On the north side of the Taiharuru estuary you will find Tidesong, our 8 acre property. With only one of our four children still living here, we enjoy having company and looking after guests. pretty pictures....
Our spacious, well appointed rooms offer a view through native trees to the estuary behind.

If you want to do more than just relax, there is much on offer at Taiharuru. We have a variety of interests including sailing, cycling, conservation, gardening, home cooking, and music, and can offer a range of activities such as kayaking, fishing, or hiking for your enjoyment.

Taiharuru Estuary has many beautiful spots where bush and water meet. We can arrange boat trips and picnics or fishing (tide permitting).

Kayaking is a popular pastime on the estuary. Ambitious paddlers can go for long trips, either down to the harbour entrance or upriver. If you're not so energetic, you can just drift with the current. Our kayaks are excellent for the inexperienced as they are very stable and completely unsinkable.

Right in front of the house is our private jetty. The estuary is quite shallow with a sandy bottom and crystal clear water. In summer the sun heats the sand and the water gets beautifully warm. We have a floating pontoon in the deepest part of the estuary which swimmers can kayak or row out to.

Double:$85. Single:$60. Includes substantial breakfast.

Other meals by arrangement.
